Sky-Vue Skateland is Rolling It Forward on Super Bowl Sunday
At Sky-Vue Skateland, skating has always been about community. Each year on Super Bowl Sunday, our skating families turn game day into Soup-er-Bowl Sunday. It’s a special outreach that transforms a fun day at the rink into meaningful support for neighbors in need.
By donating non-perishable food items, skaters receive free admission while helping local ministries meet urgent needs across our community. These gifts may seem small, but together they make a powerful difference.
Where Your Donations Go
Kelly’s Community Pantry | Tarboro, NC
Kelly’s Community Pantry is a volunteer-led, outdoor pantry that offers around-the-clock access to food, clothing, and basic necessities. Built on a “take what you need, give when you can” spirit, this neighborhood resource helps meet immediate needs for individuals and families facing food insecurity.
The Salvation Army | Rocky Mount, NC
Serving Nash, Edgecombe, and Wilson counties, The Salvation Army provides practical support through food assistance, rent and utility assistance, youth programs, and recovery services. Their Family Thrift Store helps fund these efforts, allowing support to reach those facing hardship throughout the region.
UCM | Rocky Mount, NC
United Community Ministries serves individuals and families experiencing homelessness and food insecurity through a wide range of programs. Emergency and transitional housing offer stability, while the Bassett Center / House the Children Program provides transitional housing for homeless families working toward long-term solutions.
UCM also operates the Community Kitchen & Pantry, which provides daily warm meals, pantry staples, and food distribution for both individuals and partner agencies. Food boxes support hundreds of households each year, and after-hours lunch bags ensure access to meals beyond scheduled serving times.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church | Rocky Mount, NC
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church offers a food pantry several mornings each week, providing consistent access to essential food items for individuals and families in need. This ministry serves as a reliable and welcoming resource for neighbors facing food insecurity.
Thank You for Rolling With Purpose
To every family who donates, skates, and gives—thank you. Your generosity helps stock shelves, serve meals, and support ministries that care for our friends and neighbors every day. Together, we’re doing more than skating—we’re strengthening our community, one donation at a time.
Teaching the Next Generation to Give
One of the most meaningful parts of this outreach is watching young skaters learn that even a small act—bringing a few food items—can make a big difference. This hands-on experience helps children understand that caring for others can be part of everyday life, and that giving back starts right where they are.
A Special Thank You!
A final and heartfelt thank-you goes to our longtime friend and former resident of Rocky Mount, Knox Porter. Each year, Knox travels from Charlotte to help make this outreach possible by collecting donations, organizing them, and ensuring they are delivered to the local agencies that serve our community.
See You Next Year — Same Time, Same Place
And we’re already looking ahead to Super Bowl Sunday 2027 — scheduled for Sunday, February 14, 2027 — and we can’t wait to do it all again at the same time, same place, same heart for service.
Mark your calendars now and plan to join us for another year of giving back. Whether you bring a donation or spread the word, your participation makes all the difference.
