From Drive-In to Roller Rink, Sky-Vue Skateland Earns Legacy Award for 66 Years of Service.

We are thrilled to announce that the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce has honored Sky-Vue Skateland with the prestigious Legacy Award! This accolade was presented at the 2024 Small Business Celebration, hosted by the Small Business Committee at Brown Auditorium, Nash Community College, on June 4. The Legacy Award is presented to a small business that has been in business for at least 15 years and has been passed down to the next generation.

Our legacy truly begins with our founders, Vernon and Pauline Holder. Vernon was a World War II veteran serving in the US Navy. Pauline was a 1941 Western Carolina Teachers College graduate, today known as Western Carolina University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business education.

They embodied the entrepreneurial spirit by coming to Rocky Mount in 1947 and opening the Sky-Vue Drive-In.

Sky-Vue Skateland was envisioned and opened in 1958.
