October is National Roller Skating Month at Sky-Vue Skateland!

In 1983, President Ronald Reagan declared October to be National Roller Skating Month. For
38 years, Sky-Vue Skateland has been celebrating this love for skating with family and friends
at the Rocky Mount, NC icon.

This year’s theme is “Roller Skating is the Original Social Network”. That theme rings true for
families and friends who have gathered at the rink for generations. They often celebrate
birthdays, and achievements as well as just spending time together as a family.

October 2021 skating events at Sky-Vue Skateland:

October 7 Adults Only Skate Nights Return

Our adult-only sessions return this month.

The first and third Thursday evenings are reserved for adults over the age of 18 to rule the hardwood. It’s a great evening of music that makes you want to move.
All ages and skills attend our adult-only skate nights.
Join us October 7 & 21, 7-9 pm.
Admission is $8 skate rental is $4.

October 2nd Learn To Skate 4 Week Challenge

Register for our learn to skate classes that begin the first Saturday of the month and runs for 4 weeks. Lessons cover the basics of roller skating. The continuity of weekly classes will build confidence in skating skills.

Next class begins October 2.
The cost is $80.00 for the lessons, skate rental, skate mate, and skating session. Preregistration is requested. You may register at HERE.
Classes begin October 2, November 6, December 4, January 1, February 5, March 5, and April 2. Private lessons are available upon request.

Saturday Afternoon Skating Session Returns

Bring the children skating on Saturday afternoons, 1:30-3:30 to enjoy the fun and games. We do not restrict the age during the session but the programming is for children ages 10 and younger. Learning how to roller skate is a great skill that gives confidence to young skaters.

Skating is a healthy activity for kids of all ages. Roller skating is for life! We have a brief lesson at 2 pm each week. Skate coaches are available to assist beginner skaters.

October 2nd Skate & Play Ages 6 & Younger

Bring the little ones to Sky-Vue Skateland on the first Saturday morning of the month. Our Skate & Play session is for young children ages 6 and younger and their parents and grandparents.

We use the skating surface to explore skating, activities, and ride-on toys. It’s a great family time for young families to participate in family activity time. We offer fisher price skates, scooters, hopper balls, tricycles, and other ride-on toys. You are welcome to bring your own ride-on toy, (no motorized toys please).
